Dr Lasardo is good, but like many good Drs, the staff surrounding him is not.

I had a heart attack and was referred to Dr. immediately after. I enjoyed my first visit with him, and since I have never been through something like this, and the fears that come along with it, I looked to him for guidance.

About three weeks after seeing him and being on my blood thinners, I became violently ill. The Dr informed me that if anything happened out of the ordinary to contact him. When I began to vomit black liquid, I called his office and informed his assistant. She told me the Dr. would call me back.

Several hours (about 6) the assistant, not the Dr. called me back. She told me she spoke to Dr. and they can’t help me because it’s probably the flu, and to make an appointment with my GP. I did question if it could be related to the blood thinners, and after what felt like an odd debate about this with his assistant I made my GP appointment for the next available date they had, which was the following week.

2 days later I came home from work, and felt washed out and exhausted. Thinking I had the flu or some bug, I didn’t overly worry, but skipped dinner and went to take a nap.

I woke up from the nap feeling worse, cold sweat, dizzy and even weaker. My family decided to call the ambulance.

When the paramedics arrived, they found that I was losing a lot of blood and rushed me to the ER. There I spent hours getting an emergency transfusion because my blood count was so low I was in critical condition. Every Dr. I encountered that day said I should have been in the hospital as soon as I reported the vomiting to my Dr. I had to spend a whole week in the hospital with how bad I was from the blood loss, and then another month at home getting my strength back.

So my advice to you, if your considering Dr. Lasardo, to make sure you insist on DIRECT communication with him, especially if you are a new cardiac patient.
